Since August 2020, we have proudly followed our mission to create a welcoming and inclusive healing environment for women in the Forth Valley, helping them rebuild their lives after experiencing trauma and abuse. We offer trauma-informed, person-centred, accessible, multilingual, and non-judgmental services that respect diverse cultures and meet their individual healing needs.

About Us

At HSTAR Scotland SCIO, our purpose is to help women rebuild their lives after experiencing trauma and abuse. We provide trauma-sensitive, person-centred support to female survivors across Scotland, with a special focus on the Forth Valley. We understand that each woman’s needs are unique, and our services are designed to meet these diverse requirements through a multicultural and multilingual approach.

Our key objectives include:

  • Facilitating Recovery: We focus on strengthening trust, resilience, and empowerment to help women recover from abuse, trauma, and anxiety.

  • Flexible Support: Our therapy services are available on an individual basis, both face-to-face and online, to accommodate each woman’s schedule and needs.

  • Multicultural and Intersectional Approach: We offer personalised support in various community languages, ensuring our services are inclusive and accessible to minority cultural groups.

  • Promoting Best Practices: We strive to set the standard in women’s mental health and wellbeing within our local community.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: We deliver non-judgemental, person-centred support tailored to the unique healing journey of each individual.

Trauma Sensitive Therapy

HSTAR Scotland provides trauma therapy for women aged 16+ in a safe, supportive environment. Trauma Sensitive Therapy

At HSTAR Scotland, we provide a safe, therapeutic environment where women can speak openly about their experiences. Our counselling services offer a space for many to share their stories for the first time, and receive emotional support from experienced professionals. By learning essential tools to overcome trauma, our clients can make significant breakthroughs and build a strong foundation for recovery.

Many women seeking trauma therapy have experienced one or more traumatic events in their lives. While some may resolve their issues through standard trauma treatment, others who have experienced multiple traumas may require more intensive support. Our professional trauma therapy is designed to provide a healing space for all women in Scotland aged 16 and over with trauma-related issues.

Our culturally sensitive counselling support typically involves between 8 and 18 sessions of therapy. Each eligible client may receive up to 18 hours of trauma recovery therapy sessions, tailored to their individual healing needs. For those eligible for free therapy, services are provided at no cost for Forth Valley residents. If a client is not eligible for free therapy, HSTAR Scotland might consider offering partially funded support at a rate of £30 per session, with additional costs covered by our charity.

We are dedicated to empowering women by recognising and respecting their unique differences in age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, and national origin.

Mental Health Wellbeing (MHW) Clinic

Our Mental Health Wellbeing Clinic is designed to provide short-term support for female survivors of trauma and/or abuse. Our compassionate team offers guidance and practical assistance over a total of 2 hours, delivered in four 30-minute sessions. These sessions focus on mental health and wellbeing, covering stress management, building coping skills, practising effective breathing techniques, and creating a personalised self-care plan to support your overall emotional health.

Our aim is to offer a safe, temporary space where you can address your immediate needs and challenges while learning tools to boost your resilience. Sessions can be held online, over the telephone, or face-to-face, depending on your preference and accessibility requirements, and we always maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and care.

Please note that the MHW Clinic is not a long-term therapeutic service. Support is limited to four 30-minute sessions. After these sessions, you may be offered further trauma recovery counselling with our team if appropriate. We are unable to extend or increase the number, length, or frequency of sessions under this service.

This short-term support framework enables us to provide sustainable, focused care, helping you take the first steps towards recovery and improved mental health.
